School Students Fetch Using N-LITER Golden Retriever N-LITER Golden Retriever a hit with students at Oakville private school TORONTO, September 30, 2003 -- N-LITER Inc. (http://www.enlighter.com) today announced that it is a hit at a private school in Oakville for students from kindergarten to grade eight, named Glenburnie. Golden Retriever, an online tool that retrieves and photocopies information, helps students collect and organise online research, so they can use it later, on or off-line. The product is designed to be fun and easy to use, and students have picked it up as easily as throwing a stick. “Glenburnie
School has been using N-Liter since the start of the school year,”
states Alan Rickels, computer teacher at Glenburnie. “Students have
found it to be a valuable tool.” N-LITER
Golden Retriever is a handy toolbar that downloads to an Internet
Explorer browser and provides everything needed to research online.
Users can choose from a list of the most popular search engines (Google,
MSN, Yahoo!, etc) right from the toolbar to start their search.
Once something of interest is found, users can add a note or
highlight to the Web page and it is automatically photocopied to their
hard drive for them. Finally,
when users want the information again, Golden Retriever fetches the
saved page, complete with their personal annotations, on or off-line. “Students can also e-mail their highlighted web pages, to enable them to access their notes at home,” added Mr. Rickels. “Working on a network allows saved pages to be accessed from any computer, so there are no more lost notes.” Other features include Golden Retriever reports - an excellent way for students to create research bibliographies detailing their online research. This helps reduce plagiarism, and also gives students and teachers a record of their research
