The enLighter toolbar gives access to a large number of Search Engines.  This feature is called "QuickSearch" because it allows you to launch and remember searches from a single place.  Now you can keep track of your Internet searches in a convenient and surprisingly useful way.

Using QuickSearch Search Engines top Section top

The QuickSearch field and button combo can be used to access Search Engines quickly and efficiently.  The term(s) you type in the QuickSearch field will be sent to the selected Search Engine either by pressing Enter or by clicking the launch button or selecting a Search Engine from the QuickSearch list.

The QuickSearch field provides quick access to Search Engines
and a list of recently used terms.

A configurable number of past terms typed in the QuickSearch field will be remembered, and if you have the Search History monitor on the selected Search Engine, more details will be recorded (see Monitoring Search Engines below).  This combination can help you "re-find" things quickly and easily.

Engine Manager Search Engines top Section top

The Search Engines Manager can be accessed from the QuickSearch menu (see diagram above), the main menu Managers, or by selecting the "Search Engines" tab when on another control screen.

Use the Engine Manager to choose QuickSearch Engines
and specify which to monitor for Search History.

The Search Engines Manager allows you to select which Engines you want to include in your QuickSearch list (the "QUICK" checkbox) and which Engines you would like to have monitored for your Search History (the "QUICK" checkbox).

The Search History tool is available from the Search menu or the main menu Manage list.  Search History provides a full history of all the searches you have made using enLighter and any Search Engines you have decided to monitor.  Details of what you searched for where and when are recorded in the Search History.

The Search History is an extraordinarily useful and simple tool
that can keep track of the what, where, and when of your searches.

Monitoring Search Engines Search History top Section top

You can decide which Search Engines you want monitored for searches.  Search details of searches conducted on that Engine are recorded into your Search History (which is confidential and not shared) for use later.  To add or remove a Search Engine from being monitored for your Search History, use the Engine Manager and the "HISTORY" checkbox beside the Engine name.

Sorting Search History top Section top

You can sort your Search History entries by date (When), by source (Where), or by the terms used (What).  Click on the heading of the column you want to sort by.  You can toggle a sort (ascending or descending) by clicking a heading again.

Re-Launching Search History top Section top

Click on a Search History entry to relaunch that search.  Searches using enLighter will open the Search command screen with the criteria of the recorded search pre-selected.

Clearing History or Terms Search History top Section top

To clear your Search History, select the "Clear" button at the bottom of the page.  You will also be given the option to clear your recent Search Terms, which are the values in the drop down list off the QuickSearch and Search tools.  You may clear just the recent terms using the last QuickSearch menu item.
