Congress Square and Zvezda Park

  • Client: Municipality of Ljubljana
  • Architect: Panprostor
  • Project Date: 2010
  • Location: Ljubljana/Slovenia

We were asked to develop a lighting design proposal and coordinate electrical installations by the architects of the project. The collaboration with the design team resulted in a lighting design proposal that builds on the daytime image of the square and creates two distinct environments: a calmer/quieter on the square and in the park as opposed to livelier and brighter environment of the streets around.

The streets around the square are lit with several 'star-like' fixtures suspended above the ground. They create a warm cosy atmosphere approaching the one of a residential living room. The lighting of the plateau features historical light poles designed by J. Plečnik, to which we added LED circles at the eye level.
